Why Study Abroad?Businesses around the world are experiencing challenges in adapting leadership tools and practices to a rapidly changing society. Globalization has provided the opportunity for businesses to expand their transactions and influence to different sectors of the world. Digital media and the internet have allowed more individuals across the globe to expand how others perceive one's culture. Modern businesses need to adapt to these cultural changes, more specifically the leadership within these businesses must find alternative approaches to conducting their image and transactions across different cultures. I chose to study abroad to improve myself as a leader and to adapt the skills needed to navigate in a global setting. As a Supply Chain Management major it is vital to understand how to interact with diverse teams in the business world.
. About GLMThe Global Leadership & Team Decision Making Minor is a collaboration between the Shelton Leadership Center and NC State European Center in Prague. The Global Leadership and Team Decision-Making minor is a 15-hour minor that is designed for students who seek to gain greater knowledge and understanding of leadership and team decision-making from a European global perspective. The coursework is composed of courses grounded in theory, inquiry, and application. I earned 15 credit hours through the experience, but what was more important were the life lessons along the way.

What Is Global Leadership
Modern leaders must develop a global mindset that transforms a new way of thinking to better understand the business environment. For global leaders to successfully compete and remain dynamic in today's business environment they must create a culture that promotes learning and effectively grasps the concepts of cultural intelligence and competence. Global leaders create meaning of their environments by promoting these ideals and continuously striving to understand the importance of gaining this knowledge. I now have a greater understanding of what Global Leadership truly entails, this can be seen through comparing my reflections in SLC 475.
